“If we could give every individual the right amount of nourishment and exercise, not too little and not too much, we would have found the safest way to health”.
This quote is attributed to Hippocrates, who lived approximately 2500 years ago (460 B.C.). He is generally accepted as the founder of medicine as a Science, distancing it from religion, superstition, and magic. Some Doctors of Medicine still take the Hippocratic Oath today. The advice profferred – a steady diet and exercise regime, still holds good today.
Hippocrates
Another of his quotes is “Natural forces within us are the true healers of disease”.
Doctors today who practice ‘functional’ medicine, and ‘restorative’ medicine, would both support his axiom, as would all naturopaths.
